Newport News – Erma Jane Morings-Boothe, 76, died on December 26, 2009 at The Gardens of Warwick Forest, Convalescent Center, Newport News Virginia. A native of Gates County, North Carolina, she was a homemaker and community servant. Mrs. Boothe served in her community of Holland (VA), where she was a willing servant of the Lord assisting family members, friends and strangers whenever there was a need. Erma was the wife of Herbert C. Boothe and the daughter of the late Felberg and Lessie Eure Morings, she is survived by: two daughters; Ann C. Boothe, Suffolk, VA, Della J. Boothe Chesapeake, VA, four sons; Herbert M. Boothe, Jr, Suffolk, VA, Herman R. Boothe, Sr (Marian), of Mass., Thurman J. Boothe (Vanessa), Windsor, VA, Gerald E. Boothe (Margie), Suffolk, VA; two sisters, Ethel Eley and Macie Morings both of Gates, N.C. and pre-deceased by a sister; Maude Lassiter and a brother; Leroy Morings. Also cherishing her memory are twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 1 from 4 pm until 7 pm at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be at noon on Saturday, Jan. 2, at Stoney Branch Baptist Church, Route 2, Gatesville, NC 27938, with Rev. Bryan Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in the Boothe Family Cemetery, Gates, NC. The body will be placed in the church at 11 am Saturday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:45 am for the procession. The family would like to thank all who came to comfort and support us in our time of grief. Special thanks to all the staff of The Gardens of Warwick Forest Convalescent Center who cared for our mom, especially on the Piedmont and Willow Glen unit. May God have the Glory.
