Capron - William Thomas Pope, II, 60, also known as "June Pope", of the 25000 block of Pope Station Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. He was born on February 27, 1949 to William T. Pope, Sr and Edna Mae Rawlings. He was a self employed mechanic for many years.
William leaves to cherish his memories his former wife, Gladys Pope Barmer; one daughter, Flencia Sessoms (Ray); four sons, Kevin Chapman, William T. Pope, III (Lucille), Jamal Austin and Kalyn Austin. Also left to cherish his memories are three sisters, Ellouise Griffin of Baltimore, MD, Leola Evans (Bobby) of Courtland, VA and Mary Ann Smith (Robert) of Boston, Massachusetts; four brothers, James Pope (Phyllis) of Portsmouth, VA, Tommie Pope (Avis) of Chesapeake, VA Jimmie Pope of Portsmouth,VA and Kelvin Pope of Baltimore, MD. William will also be missed by his grandchildren Tyre’ Winfield, Christopher Chapman, Shanequa Barrett, Shawn Nixon, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, December 28 from 4 pm until 7 pm at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11am at the funeral home. The family will receive family and friends at 11 Welcome Court, Portsmouth, VA and at 2612 Barclay Avenue, Portsmouth, VA. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral to handle the final care arrangements.
